International Celebration Book Day at LCDH Belgrado
La Casa del Habano Belgrade, International Book Day.
Ten of our top customers, sincere Habanos Aficionados, came together in Casa del Habano Belgrade This gathering was organized to present them the Initiative to UNESCO to register the Tobacco Factory Reading as Cultural Heritage of the Cuban Nation, an intangible Heritage of Humanity.
During the reading session we read the most interesting parts from two books: “The Count of Monte Cristo” by Alexandre Dumas, and one of William Shakespeare’s most popular plays “Romeo & Julieta”. This reading in “tobacco factory reader” style was paired with cigars – Montecristo Petit Edmundo and Romeo Y Julieta Cedros de Luxe Edicion Exclusiva para La Casa del Habano. To pair with the cigars, Santiago de Cuba rum was served to all participants. This rare rum was perfect match with both selected cigars.
At the end of this session everybody agreed that tobacco factory reader, the tradition that started 160 years ago, had huge influence on tobacco factory workers that were heart of soul of Cuban Cigar heritage. The undisputable fact that even some of the brands for decades carry the names of very popular books or book heroes is something that every cigar aficionado should keep in mind while smoking these memorable cigar brands.
For the next gathering everybody requested to tribute the smoking session to Sancho Panza brand, heroic Don Quixote’s servant who was admired by many rollers at XIX century. Everybody can recognize some of the lines from this Cervantes’ book, as this masterpiece was translated to all living languages.
Until the Sancho Panza night you can see photos from our first reading session.
